FAGE and WAII are pleased to present this unique Master’s degree program in Actuarial Sciences. Our vision is for the actuarial profession to be recognized in the ECOWAS region as a major player in the decision-making process within the financial services industry, social protection, financial inclusion, and risk management, thus contributing to the well-being of society. Actuarial advice to businesses, policy decision-makers, and supervisors can provide critical insight on future risks by quantifying financial impacts and enhancing business decision-making processes.
This innovative program allows students to become experts in Finance, Actuarial & Risk Management. Students will be well-trained in statistical methods, financial & actuarial mathematics, applied economics, finance and information technology. Students are also exposed to the tools of risk management, data, economics, accounting and tax laws of the various jurisdictions.
Objectifs
The program will build up the actuarial capacity in the following areas throughout the 2 years:
- Conventional and inclusive insurance product design and pricing including profitability
- Valuation of liabilities
- Evaluating the solvency and capital requirements
- Asset-Liability management
- Evaluation and implementation of risk management policy
- Contribution to financial inclusion
- Role-specific preparation for Actuarial Function, Risk Management Function, and Appointed Actuary tasks
- Guidance for the preparation of the Financial Condition Report (FCR) and Own Risk and Solvency Assignment (ORSA)
Déroulement des enseignements
- Course delivery: 50% English Language; 50% French
- Multi-cultural study environment: students drawn from within and outside ECOWAS
- Accompanying internships
- Preparation for the examinations to become Associates and then Fellows of internationally recognized actuarial associations
- Annual on-site seminars in WAII
- Opportunities of program exchange to ESILV in Paris, France, and Anahuac, Mexico
